Abbey Take Me Away!

The Abbey Resort is located on the well known Lake Geneva in southern Wisconsin about 90 minutes from Chicago. The moment you walk thru the door at the Abbey you will be excited to see all that the resort has to offer. Besides luxurious rooms the Abbey has a top of the line spa called AVANI, multiple swimming pools, multiple fantastic dining options, a movie theater, and it is the only waterfront resort on Lake Geneva!

One could truly live at the Abbey because of its wonderful spa. The AVANI Spa was newly renovated and is approximately 35,000 sq feet of total relaxation. The women's area of the spa has a sauna, steam room, inhalation room, a hot tub, and Swedish shower.

When waiting for a massage they have a wonderful round room with a fireplace where you can relax till they call your name. Once in the treatment rooms the dim lights and calming music take you away. In the common area of the spa there is a swimming pool and hot tub that only people who are getting a treatment at the spa or by a spa pass for $25 and are over 16 can enjoy. This makes the AVANI Spa a perfect opportunity - not just to get away from your guys, but kids too!

Another great feature the spa is the sanctuary suite. This private suite can be rented for $100 an hour or $600 a day and includes a hot tub, flat screen TV, private outdoor patio, and two massage tables. Services are extra of course, but this would be a great spot to have a bachelorette party or just have some of your closest chicks come with you for a total mind, body, and spirit relaxation weekend. The spa also has a delicious spa menu which you can have delivered to the sanctuary suite, your lounge chair by the pool, or even your private cabana outside. Once you go to AVANI other spas you have visited just cannot compare.

When you are done at the spa head to one of the restaurants and grab one of their many signature cocktails which are beyond yummy and then order some of their great food. The chef at the Abbey makes everything from scratch so you know it has to be good. You will also see the chef walking around the tables to make sure everything tastes perfect and that everyone is happy. This is something not typical at many other resort dining rooms.

In the summer the Abbey features the award-winning Pit Master Mathew Whiteford preparing some of the best BBQ in this country if not the world. He has been on many different talk shows describing his style of cooking the BBQ.
If you have a large group of women with you The Abbey has one of the most beautiful rooms that you could rent to have your dinner in.Many wedding receptions go on in this room along with parties of all sorts.

If you visit the Abbey in the summer you have the advantage of going swimming on Lake Geneva at their beach. They also have many outdoor games around the resort for your liking. If you want golf they will get you the best tee-time they can get in the Lake Geneva area.

They also have a complimentary bus that can shuttle you all around the Lake to do whatever you please. The fall is one of the best times to see the area with all the beautiful foliage and apple orchards nearby. A great activity would be to walk around the entire Lake Geneva. It maybe 8 miles but it won't disappoint. There is an ordinance that each home has to give access to their lake front property for a walking trail around the lake. While I am not sure if I would like that if I lived there, as a visitor it is wonderful opportunity to be able to walk by the lake and see some of the most beautiful homes in the country or should I say estates.

To give you an idea The Wrigley family owns a mile stretch of property at the lake. The Montgomery Ward family also owned a huge estate on Lake Geneva as well. If you cannot walk all the way around the lake there are boat excursions that the Abbey can set you up on to see the beauty of it.
The Abbey is one place I would love to go back to and enjoy with my gals. I will have more stories in the next month about the Abbey and other great Lake Geneva area things to do so stay tuned!!!!
